Opening/Closing Songs: Choose from Songs of the Heart

Program Songs: As a Child of God (outline), Choose the Right (Hymn 239), Stand for the Right (p159), I Feel My Savior's Love (p74), When I Am Baptized (p103), Nephi's Courage (p120-121), The Wise Man and the Foolish Man (p281), I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus (p78-79)

Listening and Singing Experiences: We'll be practicing the program for the next 3 weeks. Remind kids about being "Super Singers", teach them how to watch music leader for stand up and sit down cues. Listen for trouble spots and work out the kinks. 

Motivator: GO FOR THE GOLD! Ask 2 of the teachers to watch for "Super Singers" during song practice. If everyone was a Super Singer, the teachers will draw 3 fish on the board; if almost everyone was a Super Singer, the teachers will draw 2 fish on the board; if only a few were Super Singers, the teachers will draw 1 fish on the board. If the Primary earns at least 16 fish, they earn GOLDFISH! 

Junior/Senior Primary
  1. Teach kids what a "Super Singer" is:
    • Knows the words - BRAIN
    • Watches me - EYES
    • Follows directions (how to sing, stands up/down, uses actions) - EARS
    • Keeps hands to themselves (doesn't bother neighbor) - HANDS
    • Smiles! - MOUTH
Not sure how this will factor in with Primary Program practice: 
Nursery (following singing time, go into Nursery and sing the following songs with them)
  1. More We Get Together (gathering song)
  2. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (wiggle song)
  3. I Feel My Savior's Love (sign language)
  4. Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam (wiggle song)
  5. I Am a Child of God (use clap/pat)
  6. Families Can Be Together Forever* (draw circles in the air)
  7. Give Said the Little Stream*
  8. I Love to See the Temple*

Junior/Senior Primary
  1. 2 minutes - Teach kids what a "Super Singer" is:
    • Knows the words - BRAIN
    • Watches me - EYES
    • Follows directions (how to sing, stands up/down, uses actions) - EARS
    • Keeps hands to themselves (doesn't bother neighbor) - HANDS
    • Smiles! - MOUTH
  2. 18 minutes - Review Time!
    • As a Child of God - "how to sing" sticks
    • When I Am Baptized - pitch leading (invite older kids to front)
    • Choose the Right - action cube (invite super singers to roll cube)
    • I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus - boys/girls/both (use sticks, whoever isn't singing mouths the words)
    • I Feel My Savior's Love - use sign language in seats
    • Nephi's Courage - march in a circle (vs. 1), march in place (vs. 2), stand still (vs. 3)
  3. Fast finisher - Songs of the Heart

Review: 

  • When I Am Baptized - Sing'O'Meter (invite the teachers/Primary presidency to judge according to how well the kids know the words, how still they stand, and how well they watch me)
  • The Wise Man and the Foolish Man - Rollar Coaster (pitch leading with the body - start with buckling into their seats, move up and down with the pitch)
  • Choose the Right - Lost Little Lamb (have one of the students be the "shepherd" and stand in the hall, hide the lamb, invite the shepherd back in, start singing a little louder than usual - the closer to the lamb the shepherd gets, the quieter everyone sings to inspire reverence for lesson)
