Junior Primary (11:00-11:20), Senior Primary (12:05-12:25)
  1. Action Song: Oh How We Love to Stand (279) - Sing to the children, inviting them to participate in the actions. Sing again, this time inviting the children to sing with me.
  2. Singing Time:
    • Mother Tell Me the Story (204) - Place flip chart pictures on the board with lyrics pages. Before singing, teach children the procedure for standing to perform. Sing the song through to remind children of the song. Identify any trouble spots and use parroting to correct them. Sing the song again, this time asking the children to listen for the low to high melody line from "tell" to "me/how"; sing each phrase individually using pitch leading to demonstrate. Invite the children to lead with me as sing each phrase.
      • We happen to have a mother here with us today that is going to sing back to you. Listen to her words. How did her words make you FEEL? Now we are going to sing your verses together - children, Lindsey, then together. Sing through at least 3 times.

Opening Exercises (10:45am)

Junior Primary (11:00-11:20), Senior Primary (12:05-12:25)
  1. Action Song: Give Said the Little Stream (236) - stand on words that begin with "S", clap on words that begin with "G".
  2. Review Program Songs:
    • Mother Tell Me the Story (204) - Raise your hand if you like to hear a story before you go to sleep at night. Fold your arms and think about your favorite story. Whisper the name of the story to the person next to you. When I was little, I loved to hear my mom tell me stories of when I was a baby. I loved to hear how I would cry if anybody but my mom or dad even looked at me! I only liked milk and sweet potatoes, and when I was a little bit older, my favorite TV show was about a dog named Lassie. There is another story that I think all of our moms have shared with us - and there's a song about it. I'm going to sing it to you, listen for WHAT the story is about. Ask the children WHAT the story is about (of heaven and why we came here). In the song, you ask your mother to TELL you 3 things, listen for those 3 things. What were the 3 things you asked your mother to TELL you? (tell me the story, tell me of heaven and why I came here, tell how you love me). This time, let's sing it again, but listen for HOW you ask the mother to speak, it's one word. HOW did you ask the mother to speak? (Gently) Let's sing it again, this time, after your mother has done all these things, THEN what do you tell her that you'll DO?
    • We happen to have a mother here with us today that is going to sing back to you. Listen to her words. How did her words make you FEEL? Now we are going to sing your verses together. Sing once.
    • If I Listen with My Heart (Outline) - Review verse 2. Assess what the children know. For Junior Primary - Use pictures as cue cards (President Monson for first line, earth for second line, CTR for third line, kids know the chorus) - parrot sing each line. Invite children to hold the pictures at the front of the room. They are to lift their picture when we sing their phrase. For Senior Primary - on the chalkboard, write the first letter of each word on the board, sing through once. Invite a child to erase 5 letters at a time, sing again.

  2. Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam

Opening Exercises (10:45am)

Junior Primary (11:00-11:20),
  1. Action Song: Give Said the Little Stream (236) - stand on words that begin with "S", clap on words that begin with "G".
  2. Review Program Songs:
    • I Will Follow God's Plan (164) - the purpose of a plan is to help us finish something or get somewhere. The purpose of God's plan is for us "to be happy on earth, and in our home above" (sing this phrase), or in heaven. We are going to help one of the children in our Primary get somewhere today as we practice our song, I Will Follow God's Plan; they will have to follow your directions! We are going to hide this CTR Bear while one of you are out in the hallway. When they come back in we are going to start singing, the closer they get to finding the bear, we are going to stand up, the farther they are from the bear, we are going to sit down. We will give them directions by whether we are standing or sitting! We will do this 3 times.
    • If I Listen with My Heart (Outline) - Think about what you would have done if you "had been a little child when Jesus lived on earth" (sing this phrase)? Would you "have liked to walk with him and listen to his words?" Ask the children to share their thoughts, include teachers. We weren't there, but we can find stories of Jesus in the scriptures, and we can imagine what it would have been like "to walk with Him and listen to His words". "But as I search the scriptures I can hear his words of peace." Words of peace - repeat that with me. Let me share some of my favorite words of peace from Jesus with you: John 14:27: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Sing the song with me, melody lead.
Senior Primary (12:05-12:25)
  1. Action Song: Give Said the Little Stream (236) - using the rhythm sticks, keep the beat. Layer difficulty: stand on words that begin with "G", stomp on words that begin with "S", etc.
  2. Review Program Songs:
    • I Will Follow God's Plan (164) - have the song written on the blackboard with key words (or words the children don't know as well) omitted. Have those words written on strips of paper around the room. Sing the song through once without any of the missing words. Next, sing the song again, this time inviting a child to find the first 2 missing words. Repeat until the song is complete again.
If time, sing the next verses to assess knowledge.

Opening Exercises (10:45am)

Junior Primary (11:00-11:20), Senior Primary (12:05-12:25)
  1. Action Song: Give Said the Little Stream (236), stand on words that begin with "S", clap on words that begin with "G".
  2. Review Program Songs:
    • Stand for the Right (159) - Fold your arms if you watched General Conference last weekend. Nod your head if you heard President Monson, our prophet, speak. Raise your hand if you want to share what he taught us. His message is always the same, to "be true" and "stand for the right"; I'm going to sing it to you, if you know the words, sing with me.
    • I Will Follow God's Plan (164) - Heavenly Father wants each of us to return home to Him. To do that we must follow His plan. In this song, there are rhyming words (have spaces on blackboard). Listen for the rhyming words and we'll talk about them after we sing (3 close sets, a 4th set with words further apart)
    • The Books of Mormon (119) - Where can read about God's plan? This song teaches us the names of many of the prophets that wrote in the Book of Mormon. As we sing, stand every time you sing a word or name that starts with "M".
    • If I Listen with My Heart (Outline) - In the Book of Mormon we learn the teachings of Jesus. As we read the scriptures, the Holy Ghost can speak to our hearts and tell us that the scriptures are true. I know a song that teaches us about listening with our hearts. Fold your arms if you know this song. Hum along as Brother Surlin plays the introduction, then join me in singing the first verse. Watch my hands, if I move them up, I want you to sing louder, if I move them down, I want you to sing quieter.
