Opening Song: Latter Day Prophets (p134))
Closing Song: Stand for the Right (p159)

Christmas Review Songs: Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus p.36, Once There Was a Snowman p. 249, Picture a Christmas p. 50, Our Christmas Story Tree (the Friend),  Away in a Manger p. 42, Christmas Bells p. 54, A Shepherd's Carol p. 40, Stars Were Gleaming p. 37, It's Autumntime (but sing winter time, the snow/rain is falling down) p. 246, He Sent His Son p. 34
---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: The Christmas season is one to remember our Savior Jesus Christ.

Listening and Singing Experiences:
Here are the ornament pages I would use:

I planned to print them out and write a number on the back (that corresponds to a Christmas song). I would tape them either under the kids chairs or hide them around the room. Ideally, each child would get to pick or find an ornament. Tell the kids you will choose reverent singers to pick ornaments, to look under their chairs, or you could play the hot/cold game where you have the children start singing in strong voices and when the child searching for an ornament is close to it, the kids sing quieter and quieter.

Here again are the 10 songs we'll be reviewing:
  1. Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus (p36)
  2. Once There Was a Snowman (p249)
  3. Picture a Christmas (p50)
  4. Our Christmas Story Tree (the Friend)
  5. Away in a Manger (p42)
  6. Christmas Bells (p54)
  7. A Shepherd's Carol (p40)
  8. Stars Were Gleaming (p37)
  9. It's "WinterTime" (p246)
  10. He Sent His Son (p34)
If there is still time, choose from the Songs of the Heart box.

Nursery (following singing time, go into Nursery and sing the following songs with them)
  1. Once There Was a Snowman
  2. Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam
  3. Away in a Manger
  4. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
  5. I Am a Child of God

Opening Song: Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus (p36)

Closing Song: Stars Were Gleaming (p37)

Christmas Song: Our Christmas Story Tree (the Friend)
Review Songs: Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus (p36), Christmas Bells (p54)
---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: Our Christmas tree and ornaments are symbols of the true meaning of Christmas. These symbols are to remind us of our Savior Jesus Christ and His birth.

Help the children understand it (Attention Getter): Have mini Christmas tree lit up, ask children to raise their hands if they have a Christmas tree in their homes. Teach them that Christmas trees and their ornaments can help remind us about the true meaning of Christmas. Have the ornaments from the song laid out on the table, show them to the children and have them guess in their minds what they might symbolize/represent. Play the slideshow. Discuss the meaning behind the ornaments as we hang them on the tree (sing it as we hang them). At the end, hand out Christmas Story Tree Matching Sheet

Listening and Singing Experiences:

Junior/Senior Primary

Our Christmas Story Tree

  1. Use hand actions while singing (have children come up with them).
  2. Put pictures of ornaments, etc. up on board (instead of flipchart, next week put on poster)
  3. Clap the melody rhythm.
  4. Keep the beat while singing with feet or patting knees.

Christmas Bells
  1. Review song by singing and having the children join in singing when they think they remember the words as we walk in a circle. Use Christmas bell. Start with Isabella and Emma.
  2. Teach descant (have Emily play it on the piano while the rest sing the melody).

Closing Song: Picture a Christmas (p50)

Christmas Song: Samuel Tells of the Baby Jesus (p36), Christmas Bells (p54)
Review Songs: Picture a Christmas as Closing Song
---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: Even though Jesus was born on another continent, Heavenly Father wanted all of His children to know when Jesus would be born. He sent Samuel the Prophet to tell the people that in 5 years time the Savior would be born.

Help the children understand it (Attention Getter): Show the Book of Mormon video about Samuel the Lamanite. Have the children tell the story in their own words. Then sing the song to them with the flipchart.

Listening and Singing Experiences:

Junior/Senior Primary

Opening Song: He Sent His Son (p34)

Closing Song: I Am a Child of God (p2-3)

Christmas Song: Picture a Christmas (p50)
Review Songs: Away in a Manger (p42)
---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: Heavenly Father loves us so much, He sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to show us how to return to live with Him. Jesus was born in a stable. Shepherds came to visit Him that night. The wise men didn't come for another couple of years (that's why we don't sing about them in the song).

Help the children understand it (Attention Getter): Make connection by showing personal pictures of Christmases past. Ask the children to share what they see when they "picture" Christmas (have a partner A and B so everyone gets to share). Then share Gospel Art Kit pictures of Christmas (and connect to how these are pictures of the first Christmas).

Listening and Singing Experiences:

Junior/Senior Primary

Picture a Christmas (Flipchart)
  1. The first 2 phrases tell us to picture something, raise your hand when you hear what they are. (stable in Judea, sacred silent night) Discuss stable and sacred. Have children sing with me and then by themselves.
  2. The next phrase has rhyming words, when you hear what they are touch your nose. (hear and near). Have children sing with me and then by themselves.
  3. Sing the next phrase to and with children, then have them sing it by themselves.
  4. Sing verse from the beginning.
  5. When we picture the little baby Jesus, what are we supposed to think about? (His life and words so dear) Sing to, with and by. Have children use the sign language for baby and Jesus.
  6. We should do 2 things as we picture Christmas this year, what are they? (sing praise and remember Him) Sing to, with and by. Have children silent clap for praise and point to head for remember. Sing chorus from beginning.
  7. Sing verse 1 with  chorus. Have children stand to sing.
  8. What are the 2 words that describe Joseph? Hands on your shoulders when you know (kind and gentle). Sing to, with and by.
  9. What 1 word describes Mary? (fair) Fair = beautiful. Sing to, with and by.
  10. The next part of a phrase has rhyming words, what are they? (see, rev'rently) Have children sing with me and then by themselves.
  11. Sing the last part of the phrase to and with the children, then have them sing it by themselves.
  12. Sing verse from beginning. Then sing it again with the chorus. Have children march quietly in place.
  13. Sing the whole song through. Have children stand to sing.
Away in a Manger
  1. Review verse 1 with chorus. Work on trouble spots.
  2. If time, teach verses 2-3 using similar method used above. Solo/Duet for these verses?
*Tell children that after singing Away in a Manger and Picture a Christmas we will be singing "Jingle Bells" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". We can't practice them in church, so practice them at home during the week. The adults will be joining in to sing with us.

  1. Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam
  2. Away in a Manger

Sing Wiggle Song (if needed)
Attention getter: Last week I showed you my Thankful Turkey Book book. This week I made a Thankful Turkey for you! It's different from my book, but another way for you to keep track of things you're thankful for! Today we are going to sing songs about being thankful to give you ideas to draw or write on your turkey at home. This is Tom the Turkey! On the back of each of his feathers is a song about Thanksgiving and autumn time. I'm going to draw your names out of my turkey basket to see who gets to come choose a feather!
  1. Draw a name from the basket and have that child choose a feather. Put feathers aside after being drawn.
  2. When the children draw the following songs, take more time to go over and learn them better:
    • Thanks to Our Father (p20)
    • Children All Over the World (p16)
    • Life is O'erflowing with Beautiful Things (the Friend)

Wiggle Song: If you're grateful and you know it...clap your hands, stand up, stomp your feet, do all 3!

  • Junior Primary: sing after "Thanks to Our Father" activity.
  • Senior Primary: first thing!

Attention getter: One of my favorite foods at Thanksgiving is the turkey! I especially love the juicy dark meat, yum! So, turkeys always remind me to be thankful. I brought my turkey gratitude book today to share with you. Share turkey gratitude book (visit link for an idea of what mine looks like).

  1. Sing the first verse of "Thanks to Our Father" (p20). Invite the children to sing it with me, use pitch leading.
  2. I have left blank pages at the end of my book. I'm going to sing you more of the song (verses 2-3), and let's fill the rest of my book with the things we sing about (eyes, ears, hands, feet, clothes, food, father, mother, baby). For Senior Primary: book will already be filled out. Challenge them to remember all 6 things from verse 2. For verse 3, talk about what the blessing of eternal families means to them individually.
  3. Practice verse 2 of "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" using flipchart.
  4. During the month of November, I challenge you to say "thank you" more than ever. And, to make saying "thank you" a little more fun, I'd like to teach you how to say it in 6 different languages: Spanish, Tongan, German, Danish, French and Japanese (show flags from each country)! For Junior Primary: have kids repeat back each thank you phrase as you point at the corresponding flag. For Senior Primary: show kids the real spelling of each phrase (on large word strips) and have them guess how to pronounce it. Then have them repeat back the correct pronunciation.
  5. Sing "Children All Over the World". Point to either the corresponding flag or word strip for each thank you phrase. Repeat at least 2 times. Have kids stand up whenever they sing a "thank you" phrase.
  6. Fast Finisher: Songs of the Heart

Sing Wiggle Songs! :)

Attention getter: Our moms and dads love us so much. They do things for us and give things to us to show us how much they love us. My mom made me my lunches for school when I was little to show me she loved me. My dad used to read me a story before bedtime to show me he loved me. What are things that your moms and dads do or give you to show you they love you?

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang one of my favorite Primary songs during General Conference - My Heavenly Father Loves Me. This song teaches us about some of the blessings our Heavenly Father has given us to remind us how much He loves us. These blessings are things that we can see and feel in our everyday lives. I know that Heavenly Father loves each of you very much.

  1. Ask Sister Ames to play through the song once. Ask the children to think about how they know their Heavenly Father loves them. Tell them after we listen to the piano, we will sing the song and hear some of the ways we can know our Heavenly Father loves us.
  2. Sing My Heavenly Father Loves Me (verse 1) to the children, one phrase at a time using pitch leading (no flip chart yet). Then have the children sing the phrase with me. Invite children to pitch lead as well.
  3. Sing the song through once.
  4. Ask the children what are some of the blessings our Heavenly Father has given us to remind us how much He loves us. (they should use phrases from the song, guide them if they need help or use the flip chart with photo cues)
  5. Repeat with verse 2.
  6. Fast Finisher: Songs of the Heart (children's favorite songs)

Nursery (following singing time, go into Nursery and sing the following songs with them)

Motivator: GO FOR THE GOLD! Ask 2 of the teachers to watch for "Super Singers" during song practice. If everyone was a Super Singer, the teachers will draw 3 fish on the board; if almost everyone was a Super Singer, the teachers will draw 2 fish on the board; if only a few were Super Singers, the teachers will draw 1 fish on the board. If the Primary earns at least 16 fish, they earn GOLDFISH!

I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus
  1. Attention getter: Invite a child to come up and look at a picture of Christ (GAK 240) and a mirrior and tell the things he/she see that are similar (two eyes, hair, smile, nose, red shirt, etc).  Teach children that not only do we look like Jesus and Heavenly Father (we were created in Their image) but our goal is to be like Jesus and Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father sent Jesus to the earth to show us how to become like them! If we try to be like Jesus by doing what He did and saying what He said, we will return to live with Them someday.
  2. Give listening prompt, sing phrase, invite kids to sing song to that point.
    • Who am I trying to be like? (I’m trying to be like Jesus)
    • What am I doing to be more like Jesus? (I’m following in His ways)
    • How am I trying to love as He did? (I’m trying to love as He did, in all that I do and say)
    • At times I am tempted to do something, what is it? (At times I am tempted to make a wrong choice)
    • What is another name for the Holy Ghost? (But I try to listen as the still small voice whispers)
    • What does the still small voice whisper? (Love one another as Jesus loves you)
    • What should we show in all that we do? (Try to show kindness in all that you do)
    • We should be gentle and loving in 2 ways, what are they? (Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought)
    • Why should we do all this? (For these are the things Jesus taught)

    • Directions: You will ask a reverent child to choose a straw from the jar. That child will stand on the starting line and blow through the straw. A little paper will fly out (hopefully, haha), and whichever line it lands closest to is how you will sing the song.
      • Line 1 = sit backwards on chair while singing (you'll need to lead from the back)
      • Line 2 = march in place while singing
      • Line 3 = sing while making a figure 8 with one hand in the air
      • Line 4 = sing on one foot
      • You can always change the "challenge" to do while singing as necessary
    • Visual Aids: Here is a list of the visual aids you may use while singing each song. Some will be in my bag, others are stored at the church, some don't have any (familiar songs). Ask any of the presidency to help you find them.
      • As a Child of God - poster. There are pictures that go in the slots for each verse.
      • Choose the Right - flip chart.
      • Stand for the Right - flip chart. "Be True" word sticks.
      • I Feel My Savior's Love (verse 1 only) - flip chart. I've taught them the sign language.
      • When I am Baptized - poster.
      • Nephi's Courage - story sticks in file folder. Storybook flip chart.
      • The Wise Man and the Foolish Man - hand actions (the kids know them).
      • The Fourth Article of Faith - poster with ladder.
      • Book of Mormon Stories - hand actions.

Closing Song: Families Can Be Together Forever (p188)

---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: Just like Nephi, the Lord asks us to keep His commandments. When we are tempted to make the wrong choice or think we can't choose right, we must be courageous like Nephi and say "I will go and do!".

Help the children understand it:
  1. 5 minutes - Sing Wiggle Songs (remind children that we can be silly but need to still be reverent in Heavenly Father's house).
Listening and Singing Experiences:

Junior/Senior Primary

  1. 10 minutes - Nephi's Courage
  • We've been practicing Nephi's Courage, and we know the first 2 verses really well! Today we're going to practice the 3rd verse. Sing the 3rd verse to the kids (you can have teachers sing with you if you don't want to sing alone). While you sing, ask the kids to listen for how many times you sing "I" (10 times).
  • Teach the kids the sign for "I" (point to your chest); tell them that every time we sing "I" to point to themselves. Sing verse together.
  • Next teach kids actions, line by line. Remind them to point to themselves whenever we sing "I"
"The Lord gives us commandments" (hands like a book, commandments are in scriptures)
"and asks us to obey" (point finger in like a parent would while scolding)
"Sometimes I am tempted to choose another way" (both palms up, lift one and then the other as though you're weighing the options)
"When I'm discouraged" (hold your head with one hand, like you have a headache or feeling down)"and think I cannot try" (shake your head "no")
"I will be courageous and I will reply" (show off your muscles!)
  • The kids know the chorus.
  • Repeat a couple times. To keep kids attentive, you can have them stand up, march around the room, sing boys vs girls alternating by line, Jr primary vs. Sr. primary alternating by line, etc). I also have "how to sing" sticks in a file folder you can use as well. Do what's most comfortable for you.
  • Sing the entire song (verses 1-3). Use the storybook flipchart.
     2.   Fast finisher - Songs of the Heart (Choose songs from striped purple/red box)

Nursery (following singing time, go into Nursery and sing the following songs with them)

Families Can Be Together Forever (p188)

Closing Song: Stand for the Right (p159)

Program Song: The Wise Man and the Foolish Man (p281)
Review Songs: Nephi's Courage (p120)
---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: When we build our houses on rock, or when we build our lives on the rock of our Redeemer, no matter what storms or hard times may come, we will not be washed away or fall.

Help the children understand it:
  1. Sing Wiggle Song
Listening and Singing Experiences:

Junior/Senior Primary

  1. The Wise Man and the Foolish Man (p281)
    • 1 minute - Attention getter: Last week we talked about building towers with blocks and about a wise man and a foolish man. The wise man chose to build his house on rock so it had a sure/solid foundation. What are ways that you can build your "house" (life) on "rock" (Christ)? (Read scriptures, attend church, visit with missionaries, pray, serve others, etc)
    • 5 minutes - Sing the Wise Man/Foolish Man, determine any tricky spots. Practice singing using "how to sing" sticks or Sing-O-Meter. Invite kids to help you.
Help them apply it in their lives/Testimony: What can we do to build upon the rock of our Redeemer? (go to church, read scriptures, pray, choose the right, be a good example, etc.) I promise each of you that if you do these things, when you have hard times/trials you will have the strength and bravery to get through them!
    • 5 minutes - Review "Nephi's Courage" using story sticks and book. Review 1 verse at a time.
  2. Fast finisher - Songs of the Heart

Closing Song: I Feel My Savior's Love (p74)

Wiggle Song: Two Little Eyes (p268)

Program Song: The Wise Man and the Foolish Man (p281)
Review Songs: Nephi's Courage (p120)

Identify the doctrine: When we build our houses on rock, or when we build our lives on the rock of our Redeemer, no matter what storms or hard times may come, we will not be washed away or fall.

Help the children understand it:
  1. Teach new Wiggle Song. 5 minutes
    • Sing song to kids using actions (point to each eye; point to each eye and blink 3x; point to each eye; touch: head, shoulders, knees and toes; body wiggle; sway; point to each eye; point to each eye and blink 3x; body wiggle)
    • Have kids join in and sing 3 times.
Listening and Singing Experiences:

Junior/Senior Primary
  1. The Wise Man and the Foolish Man (p281)
    • 2 minutes - Attention getter: Lay blocks out on a table. Ask kids to raise their hands if they enjoy building towers with blocks. Where would it be best to build with blocks? On a table, on the carpet, or your bed? Why? (Listen for understanding of having a solid/firm/hard base, keeps blocks steady, the carpet/bed are too soft, easy for blocks to fall over, etc.)
    • 5 minutes - Think about what we just talked about. In this scripture, the prophet Helaman is teaching his sons Nephi and Lehi. He tells them to build their foundation (think tower) on something, listen for what it is. (rock of our Redeemer) What do you think it means to build our foundation on the rock of our Redeemer, or Jesus Christ? (follow Him, center our lives around Him). I'm going to keep reading, Helaman promises his sons that if they do, "they cannot _____." (fall) We're going to sing a song today that teaches us the same lesson! The Wise Man and the Foolish Man! Why was the wise man wise? What did he do? Why was the foolish man foolish? What did he do?
Help them apply it in their lives/Testimony: What can we do to build upon the rock of our Redeemer? (go to church, read scriptures, pray, choose the right, be a good example, etc.) I promise each of you that if you do these things, when you have hard times/trials that
    • 5 minutes - Practice singing the song - review actions, use instruments and other movement (keeping beat).
    • 3 minutes - Review "Nephi's Courage".
  2. Fast finisher - Songs of the Heart
Nursery

  1. Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam

Closing Song: Choose the Right (Hymn 239)

Wiggle Song: I Wiggle (p271)

Program Song: Nephi's Courage (p120)
Review Songs: As a Child of God, Choose the Right
---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: We can choose the right by following the example of Nephi in the Book of Mormon. He chose to the follow Jesus Christ even when his brothers made fun of him. When we choose the right, the Lord will provide a way for us to keep His commandments.

Help the children understand it:
  1. Sing Wiggle Song. 1 minute
    • Listening and Singing Experiences:

      Junior/Senior Primary
      1. Nephi's Courage (p120)
        • 1 minute - Attention getter: I'm going to share with you one of my favorite Book of Mormon stories. Show kids the book-like flipchart.
        • 10 minutes - Sing Nephi's Courage, story style. Talk about each verse to ensure understanding.
        • 5 minutes - Practice singing the song, verse by verse using story sticks, "how to sing" sticks, etc.
      2. 2 minutes - Songs of the Heart
Help them apply it in their lives/Testimony: Make connections with real life examples of what the Lord asks us to do (compared to Nephi getting the brass plates). I know that the scriptures are full righteous examples for us to follow. Nephi is one of those examples. He was willing to go and do what the Lord asked him to do. I promise you that if you will go and do, the Lord will always provide a way for you to do what He asks.

      Help the children understand it:
      1. 1 minute: Sing Wiggle Song, twice through
      2. 18 minutes: Listening and Singing Experiences
        1. 3 minutes: Attention getter: Ya'll did a fantastic job today! You sang beautifully, and I know all the fathers loved your song. I brought something with me today to help us celebrate Father's Day. A laundry basket! Now this isn't just ANY laundry basket. It is full of clothes you might see your dads wear! Shirts, ties, shoes, pants, and more! I am going to look for reverent singers to come choose an item out of my basket. There is a number somewhere on it - it is the number to a song we are going to sing. You may then choose to wear the item, or choose someone else who wants to wear the item to wear it for the rest of singing time. Now, even when you are wearing dad clothes, you must still be reverent singers; if you are distracted by the clothes, you will have to take them off.
        2. 15 minutes: Sing the corresponding songs as the children choose articles of clothing from the basket. Use flipcharts and posters as necessary.

Review Songs: Stand for the Right, Fourth Article of Faith
      Father's Day Song: Fathers (p209)
      -------------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: We have many fathers in our lives, we're going to focus on three of them: the father of our home, the father of our ward (the Bishop), and the Father of us all (Heavenly Father). Our dads teach us how to choose the right so we can return to live with Heavenly Father. Our bishop is always there to listen to us and to help us. Our Heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to show us how to return to live with Him.

      Help the children understand it:

      1. 1 minute: Sing Wiggle Song, twice through
      2. 18 minutes: Listening and Singing Experiences

        2. 5 minutes: Teach the chorus (using poster), one phrase at a time (sing to them, then have them sing with me). The Junior Primary does not know it, the Senior Primary does.
        3. 5 minutes: Sing verse 1 with the chorus. Review any trouble spots. Repeat for all 3 verses. (use poster)
        4. 5 minutes: Practice singing all 3 verses using the poster and "how to sing" sticks (3 times through). Invite great singers (those singing and sitting reverently) to hold up the sticks, give them 2 to switch between during the song.
        5. 2 minutes: Practice "Performance Mode" (stand all, arms at sides, holding still, eyes on me, sing loud but reverently). Invite one of the teachers to use the "Sing-O-Meter".
        6. Fast Finisher: Songs of the Heart

      June 3, 2012

      Opening Song: Reverently, Quietly (p26)
Closing Song: Choose the Right Way (p160-161)

      Wiggle Song: I Wiggle (p271)

Program Song: When I Am Baptized (p103)
      Review Songs: none
Other Songs: Fathers (p209), Sebastian's Baptism Songs (When I Am Baptized, and...?)
      ---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: We have a father of our home, a father of our ward (the Bishop), and a Heavenly Father. They each teach us and guide us how to return home to heaven. I choose the right by following Jesus' example and being baptized.

      Help the children understand it:
      1. Sing Wiggle Song. 1 minute
        • Listening and Singing Experiences:

          Junior/Senior Primary
          1. Fathers (p209) - 10 minutes
            • 1 minute - Attention getter: I have pictures of 3 very special men. Place on the board a picture of a father (mine? from the Friend?), the Bishop, and of Heavenly Father (First Vision). What do these men have in common? (They are all fathers). We are going to learn a song that teaches us about each of these men and how they are fathers.
            • 3 minutes - I'm going to sing the first verse, listen to find out who this man is a father of. (The father of our home). How do our fathers lead our families? (by example, teach us how to serve, provide for us, teach us the Gospel, etc). The song also teaches that they lead  "with wisdom's light in all that's right". What does that mean? (Wisdom - when we do what we know to be true, Light - shows us the way, Wisdom's Light - we find it in the scriptures and from our Prophet, In All That's Right - to CTR, etc.) Add keyword pictures under the father of our home picture (home, family, lightbulb and scriptures, CTR, "good"). Sing the chorus TO the kids.
            • 3 minutes - I'm going to sing the second verse, listen to find out who this man is a father of. (the father of our ward). "Tends" means to take care of. Our Bishop "tends with loving care each member's needs". I'm going to sing the second verse again. Listen for how the Bishop takes care of our needs (with kindly deeds). Service! Bear testimony of the Bishop's call and that he is always there for us, to talk to or ask questions of. Add keyword pictures under the Bishop's picture (heart with "care", members in sacrament mtg, act of service). Sing the chorus WITH the kids.
            • 3 minutes - I'm going to sing the last verse, listen to find out who this man is a father of. (the Father of us ALL). Bear testimony that our Heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live, die, and be resurrected for US! When we remember our Heavenly Father, we should remember Him reverently. Add keyword pictures under the picture of Heavenly Father (primary chorister leading kids, child praying, picture of God the Father and Son, picture of Jesus/His birth). Have the kids sing the chorus BY themselves (if ready).
            • Note for next week: add photos to a poster or into a flipchart book for review ease.
          2. Sebastian's Baptism:"When I Am Baptized" (p103), - 10 minutes
            • Invite kids to attend Sebastian's baptism, explain we'll be singing to show him how much we love and support him.
            • 1 minute - Sing through "When I Am Baptized" verse 1.
            • 5 minutes - Teach verse 2 by sing and repeat method, along with flipchart.
              • I know when I am baptized (picture of baptism)
              • my wrongs are washed away (picture of hands/soap, remind kids of last week)
              • And I can be forgiven (picture of child praying, remind kids of what we learned last week about repentance and forgiveness)
              • and improve myself each day (picture of child reading scriptures, teach children that to "improve" means to get better. One of the ways we can become better is by reading the scriptures and following the examples of the prophets like Nephi)
            • 3 minutes - Sing the second verse twice. Sing through the entire song once.
            • 1 minute - The other song we are going to sing is...(I Am a Child of God, Families Can Be Together Forever, one they already know). Sing through once.

              2. Faith (p96)3. Help Me Dear Father (p99)4. When I Am Baptized (p103)
              5. The Holy Ghost (p105)
              • 1 minute - Sing the Fourth Article of Faith using the poster (add popsicle sticks ahead of time)
              • 1 minute - Attention getter: To help us learn more about each of these principles and ordinances, I have brought 4 bags. In each bag, there is something that will help us understand that principle or ordinance better.
              • 5 minutes - Invite one child to open the first bag labeled "faith". In the bag will be a packet of seeds. Teach that faith a little seed, sing the song "Faith", sing both verses using flipchart. In the second bag labeled "repentance" will be a bar of soap. Teach that when we sin, it's just like getting our hands dirty. Repentance is the soap that cleanses our hands.
              • 5 minutes - In the third bag labeled "baptism" there is a picture of a child being baptized. Sing the song "When I Am Baptized", verse 1. Teach the 2nd verse using the soap analogy and flipchart.
              • 2 minutes - Invite one of the kids to open the last bag "Receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost". In it will be a picture of a child being confirmed and a blanket. Teach that the Holy Ghost can bring us comfort and peace, just like a blanket. Sing "The Holy Ghost" verse 2 with flipchart.
              • 1 minute - Finish by singing "When I Am Baptized", both verses.
Help them apply it in their lives: I know that our Savior Jesus Christ has taught us the way to return to our Heavenely Father. We must be baptized, just like Jesus Christ was baptized.

              Help the children understand it:
              1. Sing Wiggle Song. 2 minutes
                • Listening and Singing Experiences:

                  Junior/Senior Primary

                  Part 1
: 7 minutes, The Fourth Article of Faith (p124)
                  • 1 minute - Attention getter: I was doing laundry this last week (I had a LOT to do), and in order for me to reach my dryer, I have to use a step stool (yes, I'm VERY short). Olivia and I also watched the gardener climb a ladder to trim the trees outside our apartment. When we come to church, we walk up a BUNCH of stairs/steps to get to the Chapel. Stairs or steps help us get where we want or need to go. There are steps that help us get us back to live with our Heavenly Father, today we are going to learn the first 4.
                  • 5 minutes - Listen for what the first step is as I sing you this song. When you hear it, fold your arms. (Faith). After singing the song, have the children identify the first step and place the faith picture on the first rung of the ladder (a poster with a ladder drawn, rungs are spaced out enough to fit each picture, words "we believe" are placed at the bottom of the ladder). Repeat for the second (Repentance), third (Baptism), and fourth (Laying on of Hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost).
                  • 1 minute - Invite the children to sing with me. Remind them that every Article of Faith begins with "We believe" (place the word strip on the poster). Also teach them the phrase, "first principles and ordinances of the Gospel" and it's significance.
                           Part 2: 7 minutes, When I Am Baptized (p103)
                  • Last week you learned a song about the third step on our ladder - baptism.
                  • 1 minute - Invite the children to sing the first verse with me, have them create a rainbow as they sing with their hands. Use flipchart pictures as necessary.
                  • 3 minutes - Show the children a ribbon wand. Set expectation: place the wand on our laps until we sing, use it to create a rainbow without touching our neighbor, and when the song is finished put the wand back on our laps. Hand out ribbon wands to a few of  the children. We are going to sing the song again. If you do not have a ribbon wand, use your hand. We will sing the song again, so everyone has a turn with the wand.
                  • 3 minutes - Now to focus on the chorus: Sing the chorus to the children, ask them to listen for the phrase that sounds the most like rain falling (as Earth right after rain). Introduce rain stick (only if I get it made!). Ask one of the teachers to watch for a super singer (sings most of the words, feet still, eyes on me), have that child use the rain stick on the phrase "as Earth right after rain". Repeat if time.
                  • Ask who plays the piano in Sr. Primary, ask if they'd be interested in learning the simplified version in the Friend to play!
                  • Fast finisher: Sing "I Feel My Savior's Love" (p74)
Notes for next week: use melody map with Sr. Primary, have the place the words on the appropriate note.
Help them apply it in their lives: I know that our Savior Jesus Christ has taught us the way to return to our Heavenely Father. We must be baptized, just like Jesus Christ was baptized.

Program Song: When I Am Baptized (p103) - Introduce today!
Review Songs: Songs of the Heart
                  ---------------------------------------------------
Identify the doctrine: Jesus Christ teaches me to choose the right. I can choose the right by being baptized.

                  Help the children understand it:
                  1. Sing Wiggle Song.
                    • Listening and Singing Experiences:

                      Junior/Senior Primary
                      • Attention getter: Raise your hand if you like to see rainbows in the sky after it rains. They are so beautiful. Sometimes I like to take a deep breath and smell the clean air when it rains. I like to look around and see how pretty the green leaves are and how everything looks so fresh and beautiful. Today we are going to learn a song about rain and rainbows.
                      • Tell the children that the melody of a song can paint a picture. Ask the children to watch me pitch-lead as I sing the first verse, and to think about what picture the melody of this song creates. If they have a guess as to what picture it creates (a rainbow), tell them to put their hand on their heads.
                      • After children figure it out, reinforce the idea by adding ascending and descending notes on a chalk rainbow on the board. (draw a simple rainbow on the blackboard and place notes along it - great for Senior Primary).
                      • Invite the children to hum the first verse while I sing it, ask them to draw a rainbow with their fingers in the air as we sing/hum.
                      • Invite the children to sing the first verse with me, have them still create a rainbow as they sing with their hands. Use flipchart pictures as necessary.
                      • Now to focus on the chorus: Sing the chorus to the children, ask them to listen for the phrase that sounds the most like rain falling (as Earth right after rain).
                      • Sing the chorus with the children.
                      • Sing first verse and chorus together. Include movements.
                      • If kids are still engaged, practice the song using "how to sing" sticks.
                    • Sing Songs of the Heart (in purple box)
Help them apply it in their lives: I know that our Savior Jesus Christ has taught us the way to return to our Heavenely Father. We must be baptized, just like Jesus Christ was baptized.

                              • Junior:  When we love our mothers, we want to help and mind them. What does it mean to mind our mothers? Listen for the word that rhymes with "mind". When you hear it, touch your nose. (find)
                              • Senior: Listen for 2 words that rhyme. When you hear them, touch your nose. (mind/find). What does it mean to mind our mothers?
                            • Sing the song with me (use flipchart), listen for trouble spots and review.
                            • Use "how to sing" sticks to practice. (tell the kids you'll be watching for those who are singing, holding still, and watching to help with the "how to sing" sticks.)
                            • Performance practice (how/where to stand, holding still, little ones in front, etc.)
                          • I Feel My Savior's Love: Sing verse 1 with signs. Practice if time. With Senior Primary, teach 3rd verse. (solo/small group for 2nd verse)
Help them apply it in their lives: I know that our Savior Jesus Christ loves us, and He wants us to feel His love. This week, I want you to find one way that you can feel your Savior's love.

                              • I Feel My Savior's Love: Sing to the children with signs for 1st verse and chorus. Invite them to sing along if they remember the words. Review the signs with them, one phrase at a time, build upon each phrase.
                              • Invite one of the teachers to use the Sing-o-Meter (judging only on words, not signs). Repeat 2 more times. (Total of 3 times)
                              • Mother, I Love You: Sing the song to the children, putting the flipchart pictures up on the board while singing. Invite them to sing along if they remember the words.
                              • Dialogue/Prompts: "This time when we sing..." (build on each action so you're doing all of them by the end)
                                • let's sign 'mother' each time we sing it
                                • stomp our feet right then left on the word 'moth-er' (still sign)
                                • let's clap our hands three times on the words 'I love you'
                                • let's point our finger when we sing 'you'
                                • let's tap our head on the word 'me'

                              • Let's sing it in "performance mode". Performance mode means to practice standing up together, singing reverently, watching me.
                                      Nursery
                              • Sing "The More We Get  Together" to invite the children into a circle.
